Kansas basketball: Jalen Wilson scores game-winner for Nets in Summer League
By Dillon Davis
Former Kansas basketball star Jalen Wilson continues to have a great showing in the NBA Summer League for the Brooklyn Nets.
Wilson – last season’s Big 12 Player of the Year, a 2023 First Team All-American, and second-round draft pick (No. 51 overall) in last month’s NBA Draft – scored the game-winning bucket for the Nets on Thursday in their Summer League matchup against the Toronto Raptors.
Wilson had an impressive final stat line with a team-leading 17 points, 7 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in the win that should help get the Nets to the Summer League playoffs.

Wilson’s former Kansas teammate Gradey Dick was selected No. 13 overall by the Raptors in last month’s draft but sat out yesterday’s matchup against the Nets
Wilson has been the best rookie for the Nets this summer as he has averaged 16.5 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 50% from 3-point range.
One of the knocks against Wilson coming into the draft was his inconsistency shooting the deep ball. But if he can continue shooting like he has this summer and continue to make plays like he did against the Raptors, he could find himself getting some minutes for the Nets this upcoming season.
Playing for a good cause
In case you needed another reason to root for the former Jayhawk, Wilson has teamed up with the Wilson sporting goods brand – and provider of the official game ball of the NBA – to give back to his new community in Brooklyn, New York.
For every point Wilson scores during his time in Vegas for the Summer League, he and Wilson Basketball have pledged to donate $100 to local YMCAs in Brooklyn. They’ve pledged to donate $50 for every assist Wilson makes as well.
As of yesterday’s game, Wilson has helped donate more than $7,000 to Brooklyn YMCAs.
