Kansas basketball: Patrick Ngongba includes Jayhawks in top 8
Kansas basketball is in the running for 4-star center Patrick Ngongba. He included the Jayhawks in his top eight list of schools.
According to Joe Tipton’s Twitter page, 6-foot-11 superstar potential center Patrick Ngongba has cut his commitment choices down to eight schools. The Kansas Jayhawks are one of them.
The other schools he is still showing interest in are Kansas State, UConn, Indiana, Providence, Duke, Kentucky, and Michigan. Based on the eight schools still in his recruiting process, it’s safe to say that he is a highly coveted prospect.
Ngongba is currently the No. 26 ranked player in his graduating class and the best overall player out of the state of Virginia, according to the 247 Sports Composite. A student at Paul VI Catholic, Ngongba is an elite center with tremendous inside-the-paint strength. He also has the ability to rebound the basketball from both sides of the floor productively. On top of that, he is looked at as one of the best shot-blocking recruits in the entire country.
He is a considerable paint presence at nearly seven feet tall, and he has reportedly added weight during the offseason. It will be interesting to see how he evolves into a more complete basketball player during his senior year of high school and onward.
While there’s no estimate of what the Jayhawks will look like during the 2024-25 season, if Ngongba chooses to play in Lawrence, fans can expect him to be a terrific big man in crimson and blue. He has the opportunity to be coached by someone who has taken several big men to the next level.

Head coach Bill Self should be heavily invested in Ngongba, considering the success he has had in the past with centers and considering the possible evolution of Hunter Dickinson this upcoming season. KU is still without a commit in its 2024 recruiting class, but you can check who they have been in close contact with by clicking here.
