We assembled a list consisting of each FBS school Kansas football has never played against on the gridiron. Find out who they are.

Conference realignment in college sports has once again become a prominent conversation in recent years. The Kansas Jayhawks had even been in consideration to join the Big Ten, though that ship has likely sailed with the addition of four new schools to the Big 12. Because of this, the Through the Phog crew thought it’d be a good idea to look at every school Kansas has never played to see if conference realignment might change anything in the history books.

KU’s first football season was in 1890, but they didn’t join the FBS ranks until 1901. That means they’ve had more than a decade to schedule games with some of these schools and never have. Perhaps proximity was an issue, or the university just didn’t want to play some of these teams.

As of July 11, 2023, Kansas football has yet to face off against 41 schools in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, the highest level of college football there is. Two of the teams will be crossed off in matchups this season, but it’s still a pretty large number for a school with such a long history in the sport.

Without further adieu, let’s begin with the American Athletic Conference!
