2024 Kansas football commit Harrison Utley reaffirmed his commitment to the Jayhawks after receiving an offer from Oklahoma.

The Kansas Jayhawks are on pace to wind up with one of the best football recruiting classes in program history, but as we mentioned in a previous article, it could all be erased if Kansas football disappoints this season. However, one future Jayhawk in particular seems locked into the future of the program.

Harrison Utley, who committed to Kansas a month ago today on June 11, is one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Oklahoma. He is the No. 1,104 ranked player on the 247 Sports Composite, and he was given an 0.8600 grade.

Offensive line coach Scott Fuchs views him as a big part of the future, potentially as KU’s center or offensive guard, despite his playing on the outside in high school.

He grew up an Oklahoma Sooners fan, originating from Norman (where OU is located). Utley was recently offered a scholarship to play for them, and it surely must have been tempting for a lifelong fanatic. However, he assured the Jayhawk faithful that he is not going anywhere in a statement on Twitter.

"“Growing up in Norman, it was my dream to play for the University of Oklahoma. Recently, I was given an amazing opportunity to go to OU and receive an athletic scholarship to play football.I am extremely grateful and honored to receive such a tremendous opportunity, but I would like to reaffirm my commitment to the University of Kansas. I strongly believe in the coaches, players, and current recruiting class at KU. We are going to do great things in Lawrence. It is definitely a great time to be a Jayhawk!”"

If Utley is turning down an offer from the school he rooted for throughout his entire childhood, there’s no reason to think that anyone could convince him to decommit from Kansas. Small things like this are proof that the KU football program is being taken to new heights every day.

Next. Kansas football has never played these FBS schools. dark
