Kansas basketball announced what numbers each offseason newcomer will wear in the upcoming season.

The Kansas Jayhawks completely revamped their roster during the offseason. After losing seven players to the transfer portal and two to the NBA Draft, it was no easy task for Bill Self to assemble another team with Kansas-esque talent.

However, the Hall of Fame head coach outdid himself again, and the Jayhawks are expected to begin the season as the preseason No. 1 team. There are plenty of new faces to learn, and they will wear unfamiliar numbers while donning the crimson and blue.

@KUHoops posted this video on Twitter with players explaining why and how they chose the numbers. Arterio Morris was the only new Jayhawk not included in the clip, likely due to his ongoing legal issues stemming from a misdemeanor charge from last June when he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. Kansas later posted a separate graphic for Morris specifically to reassure fans that he is still with the team.

Here is a noteworthy quote from one of the biggest transfer pickups in NCAA history:

"“I wear No. 1 because I feel like if you’re wearing No. 1, you gotta have a swag to yourself, and there’s always a target on your back if you wear No. 1 and that’s what I wanted. So that’s why I wear it.– Hunter Dickinson"

It’s new to see these players in Kansas jerseys, but we will get accustomed to it eventually.

Next. Kansas basketball has played, but never beaten, these teams. dark
