No. 3: David Beaty (2015-2018)

Kansas football coaching record: 6-42 (.125)

Let’s make one thing clear — not everything that went wrong at Kansas was Beaty’s fault. He had to compensate for the mess that he was handed by Charlie Weis, and boy, was it ugly. During his first game as head coach, the Jayhawks had 64 kids on scholarship. The FBS limit is 85. Yikes.

One thing we’ll give him credit for is how he handled the recruiting trail, bringing in several high-level prospects from the Louisiana area. With that being said, Beaty was outcoached in practically every game he served under the helm at KU.

Then-Kansas Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger is at fault as much as Beaty. It was never a smart idea to hire someone who had only worked with wide receivers before to revive the worst Power 5 football program.

His teams started to become more promising in his fourth year as head coach, but a 3-9 season being considered “progress” isn’t a good look. With the fiasco with the unpaid buyout and several other internal issues, Beaty was never going to work out at Kansas.
