Class of 2024 offensive tackle Carter Lavrusky became the 13th high schooler to commit to Kansas football’s recruiting class.

The Kansas Jayhawks continue to roll on the recruiting trail. Carter Lavrusky committed to KU on Monday evening, making him the third Arizona-based prospect to pledge to the Jayhawks.

Lavrusky is a 6-foot-6, 277-pound offensive tackle who attends Horizon in Scottsdale. He’s been given a 5.5 rating on Rivals and is ranked the No. 86 offensive tackle in the Class of 2024 on 247 Sports.

He held Power 5 offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, and Oregon State but ultimately chose to play in Lawrence. The 3-star lineman is a great fit with Kansas and offers excellent size on the outside, though he can also play as a guard if needed.

Offensive line coach Scott Fuchs has also brought in Harrison Utley and Kene Anene in June. KU’s recruiting class now sits at No. 39 in the nation with the addition of Lavrusky.

He described his game to 247 Sports in this interview:

"“I would describe my game as being a high IQ hard-nosed player. My strengths are that I have a long reach and wingspan. This allows me to excel at pass pro as I have the advantage of initiating contact on pass pro. I can get my hands on the defender always before they get them on me. …. Another strength is my footwork and athleticism. I attribute that to being a three-sport athlete because basketball and discus have increased my foot speed, which is faster than most big men. Finally, I excel in run blocking outside zone scheme runs and reaching perimeter defenders.”"

Kansas has improved its offensive line tremendously in the past few years, and Lavrusky could become a vital part of the Jayhawks’ future. Fuchs has done a terrific job developing guys in the trenches, so his low recruiting ranking should be taken with a grain of salt.
