Some of the most noteworthy names to ever play in college competed for Kansas basketball, but we decided to rank some of the most underappreciated Jayhawks.

When you produce as many great hoopers as the Kansas Jayhawks do, it’s easy to forget some from time to time. Excellent basketball players make their way in and out of the university each year, and some will have more memorable tenures than others. That’s just the way things go.

There are plenty of factors that could play into how much popularity a player has. They could be more animated with the media or perform more entertaining moves on the court. On the other hand, there are also the guys that quietly wreak havoc on the hardwood without receiving as much national recognition.

The Wilt Chamberlain’s and Danny Manning’s of the world will forever be remembered in Kansas basketball history. But what about those who did their jobs equally as well — or even better — than other household names, and do not receive nearly as much credit for it?

In this list, we aimed to pinpoint the players who some Jayhawks fans might not remember as vividly as others. They might not have stuffed the stat sheet every night, but they went out and gave it their all whenever the Jayhawks needed them to. We’ll call them Kansas basketball’s “unsung heroes.”

It goes without saying that many underrated players were left off our rankings — we can’t fit everyone onto a 10-man list. Some honorable mentions include Bud Stallworth, Russell Robinson, Adonis Jordan, Eric Chenowith, and Nick Bradford.

Without further adieu, these are the ten most underappreciated Jayhawks in Kansas basketball history.
