Jalil Bethea, one of the most highly coveted players in the Class of 2024, scheduled his official visit with Kansas basketball for this summer.

As the Kansas Jayhawks continue to search for their first 2024 commitment, Jalil Bethea is a name to keep an eye on. The consensus 5-star combo guard from Pennsylvania will embark on his official visit to Kansas beginning Aug. 31.

Bethea, the No. 15 2024 prospect on Rivals and No. 20 on the 247 Sports Composite, holds offers from programs such as UCLA, Alabama, and Villanova. He took an official visit to Temple and Syracuse this past October and will also go to LSU on Sep. 9. Bethea is in the midst of planning one to Miami as well.

Things seem to be heating up between the two parties, as it is encouraging to see an official visit being scheduled just a month after the university offered him a scholarship.

Syracuse is considered the favorite with Bethea right now, but his recruiting rankings have skyrocketed recently. After hardly cracking the top 100 heading into his junior year, nearly all sites have him as a top 20 player and some as the No. 2 or 3 combo guard in his class. As more prominent programs begin to recruit him, it could make it difficult for the Jayhawks to obtain a commitment from him.

Kansas basketball has reeled in several recruits from the tri-state area in the past, such as Elmarko Jackson and Kyle Cuffe (New Jersey). Receiving a verbal from Bethea before the summer ends would not only bolster KU’s recruiting class but could entice other high schoolers to choose the Jayhawks.

He is currently tearing it up in EYBL right now, leading Team Final to a 16-1 record en route to the regular season title. Peach Jam begins in July, and Bethea could continue to impress scouts if he puts up another strong showing in the postseason.
