The Kansas basketball alumni team in The Basketball Tournament (TBT) received a No. 1 seed in the tournament bracket’s unveiling.

Very few programs have produced as many professional players as the Kansas Jayhawks. Former KU players can be found on many NBA or overseas teams. Now, a handful of former Jayhawks have come together to form a Kansas alumni team in TBT.

Mass Street obtained the No. 1 overall seed in the bracket and officially added four new players to the squad. Devon Dotson, Mario Little, Wayne Selden Jr., and Jamari Traylor will join the roster this upcoming month.

Mass Street Collective is a NIL group affiliated with the university, thus how they got their name. Dan Beckler, KU’s former Senior Associate Athletic Director, runs the NIL affiliate and is listed as the team’s GM. Stephanie Temple, Tien Huynh, and Van Bui are serve as boosters for the team.

The team now consists of nine players — the full roster can be found here — and will be coached by NBA players Marcus and Markieff Morris. Back in 2019, KU’s alumni team “Self Made” was eliminated by “Sideline Cancer” in the first round, so players will look for a more favorable outcome this time around.

They will take on No. 8 seeded “We Are D3” on July 19 at 8:00 p.m. CT in the first round of the tournament. Mass Street’s opponent has never won a game since it arrived in TBT back in 2018. It can be streamed on ESPN+.

The winner of the game will advance to the second round and play the winner of “Show Me Squad” vs. “Vegas Rebellion,” the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in TBT, respectively. The Final Four begins on Aug. 2.
