1. Missouri State Bears (Home) Sep. 1
2022 record: 5-6 (3-5)
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that an FCS school tops out this list. However, Kansas fans should not take the Bears too lightly, a team that led vs. No. 21 ranked Arkansas until the final 10 minutes last year. Even in 2021, they held No. 22 Oklahoma State to 23 points, losing by one possession.
Former head coach Bobby Petrino departed from the program after three years with the program. He signed with Texas A&M to serve as the Aggies’ offensive coordinator. Ryan Beard was presented with coaching duties this past winter, so they will have to build from the ground up with a brand-new staff.
With a new coach at the helm and the fact that they are in the FCS, this can be written off as a victory before the season even starts. Memorial Stadium will be packed for Week 1, and the Bears will have a difficult task at hand.
