Kansas football: 3 easiest games on the Jayhawks 2023 schedule
3. BYU Cougars (Home) Sep. 23
2022 record: 8-5
BYU had an extremely similar season to Kansas in 2022, the only difference being that the Cougars have had much more past success. They started off the year strongly but suffered disappointing losses towards the mid-to-late portion of the season.
One of four newcomers into the conference, head coach Kalani Sitake will have to prove to opposing schools that his team deserves to compete in the Big 12. It certainly won’t be an easy task with superstar quarterback Jaren Hall departing to the NFL, as well as leaders in rushing and receiving yards Christopher Brooks and Puka Nacua, respectively.
Former USC signal caller Kedon Slovis will look to restore the high-octane BYU offense in his super senior season. Despite being a standout years ago, he is coming off a mediocre year with Pitt.
Another similarity to Kansas that BYU had last season was its defense. What is alike between the two, might you ask? Well, both teams couldn’t get a stop if their lives depended on it. If both offenses are firing on all cylinders, we might not see a punt in this game.
By no means is this going to be an easy game for the Jayhawks. However, considering that it is at home and BYU will have a heavy chip on their shoulders in their first-ever Big 12 matchup, we’ll give KU a pretty big edge in this one.
