Kansas basketball reached out to rising prospect Jalil Bethea, and the coaching staff hopes to bring him on a visit within the next few months.
The Kansas Jayhawks have not received any verbal commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, but there are several names to keep an eye on as the summer progresses. One of them is Jalil Bethea, a top-rated guard in his year.
Bethea, a 6-foot-4 combo guard from Pennsylvania, holds offers from KU, Alabama, Villanova, and several other schools. He is the No. 18 ranked player in his class on 247 Sports and the No. 14 ranked player on On3.
Despite barely cracking the top 100 on most recruiting sites heading into his junior year, he received more national recognition this season and skyrocketed up the rankings. He’s currently crushing it in the AAU and EYBL circuits.
He spoke to the media about his recruitment process and a potential visit to Lawrence.
"Kansas called me [recently] and they were talking about getting me up on a visit in, like August or early September. It’s either Aug. 31 or, like Sept. 9, I think…They are basically saying that they can use me as an all-around player. If I go there, I could be the next big player to come out of Kansas and they showed me all the players they produce. I guess they’ve been watching me since last season and now they are getting a little more serious.”"

It would be encouraging to see Kansas as one of the first schools Bethea sets up a visit with. He’s an athletic combo guard who can create space and shoot it well from outside. As the recruiting trail heats up for Kansas, Bethea could very well be one of the Jayhawks’ first commitments.
