5. KJ Adams will attempt 1 or more three-pointers per game

KJ did not attempt a single three-pointer in the scrimmage and has not connected on one in his two-year collegiate career, so why is this prediction being made? Simply put, Bill Self has emphasized how he wants Adams’ offensive game and jump shot to expand all offseason. With Dickinson taking over responsibilities as the team’s center, KJ can roam more freely outside the paint.

KUsports.com noted that Adams attempted two mid-range jump shots — one fadeaway and one step back. He isn’t shooting them from behind the arc yet, but these are just baby steps. The regular season does not begin until November, regardless.

The Jayhawks might return to the high-low offense with two inside threats in KJ and Dickinson. However, there still will be instances where Coach Self wants four guys out on the perimeter. If opposing defenses leave KJ open from the corner, he should be encouraged to pop them if they are uncontested. Factor in the occasional halfcourt heave at the end of the first half or a prayer as the shot clock dwindles, and this “overreaction” does not seem so crazy after all.
