3. Oklahoma Sooners (Home) Oct. 28
2022 record: 6-7 (3-6)
Oklahoma and second-year head coach Brent Venables are in dire need of a bounce-back campaign after having their worst season in 25 years. Losing Lincoln Riley proved to be costly for the Sooners, though they do return quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
As disappointing as OU football was in 2022, they poured 52 points on the Kansas defense when the two schools met — just a week after they were shut out 49-0 by Texas. KU’s defense should considerably improve this year, but so will Oklahoma’s offense.
Venable is a former defensive coordinator at Clemson, so there’s a good chance he modifies his team’s success in that department. If Brian Borland doesn’t make adjustments when the Sooners come into Lawrence, they will ruin the Jayhawks’ homecoming game.
