These are the top five instant impact newcomers for the Kansas football team the in 2023 season.

The Kansas Jayhawks are bringing back a combined 17 starters from last season from both sides of the ball. Additionally, the coaching staff added several transfers and high school recruits to strengthen the outlook of this season’s roster.

It is uncharted territory for fans who typically spend offseasons dreading the return of Kansas football. However, Lance Leipold has changed the culture in Lawrence, and players are beginning to notice that the Jayhawks are on the rise.

There are 13 seniors projected to start this year — five offensive and eight defensive. The team’s experience might make it difficult for some newcomers to find their way onto the field consistently. But with the talent level of some of these players, they’ll receive meaningful snaps one way or the other. With that being said, these five players will make an immediate impact for the Jayhawks in 2023 — some more than others.
