Kansas football is on pace to have one of the program’s best recruiting classes ever for 2024. Deshawn Warner could be a terrific addition to the defense.
After years of dread for Kansas Jayhawks fans, the football program is on the rise, and this is largely in part to Lance Leipold’s emergence as an excellent head coach. The Jayhawks made their first bowl game since 2008 and finally have a stable coaching staff.
One of the most evident qualities of having a successful college football team is that high school recruits and transfers will take notice. That has been the case for KU, as they are set to have the best recruiting class since 2024 for this upcoming year.
Deshawn Warner, the No. 1,054 player in the 2024 247 Sports Composite rankings, included Kansas in his final list of schools this week. Texas, Oregon State, and Washington are also in competition for the defensive end from Arizona.
He is considered a very seasoned pass-rusher and is the No. 78 EDGE in the Class of 2024. Kansas recently stocked up their defensive line room with Auburn transfer Dylan Brooks. Warner is primarily being recruited by defensive ends coach Taiwo Onatolu.
On top of including Texas, Washington, and offers in his final list, he has received offers from Iowa State, Oregon, and others. Warner is one of the most highly touted recruits in the state of Arizona.
Warner attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, and his teammate Aundre Gibson committed to Kansas in March. Gibson has actively been recruiting Warner to join the Jayhawks. He will begin his official visit to Kansas on June 23rd, and a decision can be expected soon after.
