LaFrentz, like Lovelette, was a dominant big man. From 1995 to 1998, he averaged 15.8 points per game at KU, playing 131 games in a Jayhawk uniform. He was a two-time Big 12 Player of the Year and yet another example of how exciting it can be to watch a bully-ball caliber player on the team you root for.
He was 6-foot-11 and weighed 240 pounds, serving as a considerable presence in the paint. positively affected the Jayhawks every single game he was part of a Kansas roster. Roy Williams found a way for him to click right from the get-go.
LaFrentz was drafted third overall in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, leading to an 11-year professional career for the center. After departing from the Nuggets, he also played for the Mavericks, Celtics, and Trail Blazers. In 563 NBA games, he averaged 10.1 points per game, not nearly as prolific of an average as he had with Kansas.
