1. Danny Manning (2,951 points)
The best of the best, the leader of the “Danny and the Miracles” team, and Kansas basketball’s most heroic player, Danny Manning. Manning won a championship in 1988, averaging 24.8 points per game that year and having one of the most dominant March Madness runs in NCAA basketball history.
In 147 games at Kansas, he averaged 20.1 points per game. He was such a prolific scorer that the No. 2 player on the list is nearly 1,000 points behind him. Manning will forever be a Jayhawk hero and, without a doubt, the best scorer to ever play for the university. It also goes without saying that Manning is the greatest Jayhawk to ever step foot on campus.
After being selected first overall in the 1988 NBA Draft, Manning had a 16-year-long NBA campaign and was a four-time all-star. Although injuries derailed what could have been a Hall of Fame career, Manning still had a respectable tenure in the pros. He averaged 14.0 points per game and still has one of the best Jayhawk NBA careers ever.
Manning was a pleasure to watch at Kansas, and he is by far the greatest scorer in Kansas basketball history.
