Collison is one of the best players to ever step foot in Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawk legend was a valuable piece to four Jayhawk rosters from 1999 to 2003. Roy Williams, like Bill Self, always loved his big men, and Collison fit the agenda for what Williams was doing for the program before he infamously left for the Tar Heels job.
In 142 games with the university, he averaged 14.8 points per game. He also made a college career-high 7.4 field goals a game his senior season. He could run the pick and roll, pick and pop and shoot it from mid-range, and rebound the ball defensively, leading to fastbreaks the other way. Most importantly,
After Kansas, Collison played 14 years with the SuperSonics/Thunder organization, averaging 5.9 points per game in 910 games. He is one of the longest-tenured Jayhawks in NBA history and most likely will be until the end of time. Collison is just one of three KU players to score 2,000+ points at the university, but the No. 1 player on the list ranks above all.
