2. Mgbako was going to be a one-and-done for whichever school he picked.

Although it seems like everyone is a one-and-done at Kansas — all four recruits from the Class of 2022 departed from the program this offseason — Mgbako never had a future with the Jayhawks besides this season. He projects to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and could even slip up to the lottery if he shines at Indiana.

Mgbako was not a long-term solution to KU’s lack of depth. Sure, he would have competed for a spot in the starting rotation this season, but that is about how far it would have extended.

If Kansas wants to bring in fill-ins for one year, they should do so through the transfer portal with upperclassmen, not high school recruits. Which leads us to our next slide…
