Arterio Morris, a transfer from Texas that had been linked to Kansas basketball for several weeks, committed to the Jayhawks on Instagram live.
Kansas has landed their second player since the offseason commenced. Arterio Morris transferred from Texas a few weeks back and has chosen KU as his next destination.
He was a five-star recruit coming out of Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas. Morris was the No. 1 rated point guard in the 247 Sports Class of 2022 rankings. There were even discussions that he could be a one-and-done with the Longhorns.
It was not the ideal freshman season for Morris. He was arrested last summer for an altercation with his girlfriend, where he allegedly dragged her out of her own home. The NCAA did not suspend him over the dispute. At Texas, he averaged 4.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 38 games played.
Morris comes with a considerable amount of baggage. Bill Self and the Kansas program will have to dodge questions about the ethicality of bringing him aboard. However, no one can deny the talent he possesses.
A trial date awaits Morris, which could occur any time within the next few months. The consensus is that he will not be suspended next season, making him free to play next year with the Jayhawks.
Arterio should be a terrific defensive player at Kansas, something Bill Self loves in his players. He also can bud into the offensive star he was expected to be out of high school.
The Jayhawks already have a talented guard room, and they gain more depth with Morris’ commitment. He joins Dajuan Harris, Elmarko Jackson, Nick Timberlake, and Kyle Cuffe Jr., among others.

One scholarship player remains for the Jayhawks with his announcement. That could be filled by Jaylon Tyson, Hunter Dickinson, or others if a player decides to transfer or back out of his NLI.
