Although he received a crystal ball pick to Cal, Jaylon Tyson will begin his visit to Kansas basketball this Friday.

Kansas will host a transfer that formerly played at a Big 12 school this weekend when Jaylon Tyson steps on campus. He is considered one of the top transfer targets for the Jayhawks.

In 31 games as a sophomore, the 6-foot-6-inch wing averaged 10.7 points and 6.1 rebounds. He shot an efficient 48.3 percent from the floor as well as 40.2 from three-point range.

If Tyson were to come to Kansas, the NCAA would need to grant him a waiver. He transferred from the Texas Longhorns after one season, making it his second transfer. However, with the firing of head coach Mark Adams due to his racially insensitive comments, no TTU player should have trouble obtaining a waiver.

On3.com projects Tyson to go to Cal with 100 percent certainty, so they are the clear favorites in this race. Austin Massey and Trevor Andershock of 247 Sports also put in a crystal ball for Tyson days ago, predicting him to go to the Cal Golden Bears. His former Red Raider teammate Fardaws Aimaq already transferred there. Additionally, former Tech assistant coach Matt Scherbenske headed to Cal during the offseason.

While Kansas does not have the connections to Tyson that they do, they clearly have a better supporting cast and coaching staff than the Golden Bears. His scheduling a visit with the Jayhawks is promising news, no matter the prior circumstances.

The Jayhawks have room for two more scholarship players. That number could expand to three if a player transfers or backs out of his NLI. Hunter Dickinson, Tyson, and Morris are the primary targets. Georgetown transfer Primo Spears is also on his official visit to Kansas right now
