2022-23 season stats: 71 GP, 11.3 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.1 APG, 46.8% FG

Not many good memories came from Grimes’ tenure at Kansas. After being considered one of the top high school recruits that had ever committed to Kansas, he had a lackluster freshman season and often looked lost on the court.

Originally from Texas, Grimes headed back home to Houston for his final two years after college after transferring from Kansas. He was the leading scorer on a team that went to the Final Four, and the man who was a bust with the Jayhawks was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft.

After a decent rookie year, “QG” turned on the jets for his sophomore season in the NBA. He has become the prototypical 3-and-D wing that every team yearns for. Grimes missed the previous game for the Knicks due to injury but is well on his way to advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals if they advance past the Cleveland Cavaliers.

At just 22 years of age, he has a bright future ahead of him in the pros. Fans might not think of him going to Kansas at first, but the saying stands true — once a Jayhawk, always a Jayhawk.
