College basketball is as hectic as ever with the transfer portal and players entering the NBA Draft. These are some essential dates Kansas basketball fans must remember.

With more than 1,400 players in the NCAA transfer portal, it is easy to get lost in the headlines about who is going where. Five Kansas Jayhawks entered the transfer portal following their season-ending loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Round of 32. Bill Self acquired his first incoming transfer in Nick Timberlake this past week.

Transfer portal dates to know

Returning players have until May 11th to enter the transfer portal. No more Kansas players are on the brink of transferring yet, but if we hear nothing by the 11th, it signifies that all remaining players are returning to KU.

Former Jayhawks Bobby Pettiford, MJ Rice, and Cam Martin have found their new destinations, while Joseph Yesufu and Zach Clemence are undecided.

There is no set date as to when transfers can choose their next school. Most players commit no later than the end of May or early-June.

NBA Draft dates to know

The deadline to enter the NBA Draft passed on April 23rd. Gradey Dick, Jalen Wilson, and Kevin McCullar were the three Jayhawks to do so.

On May 15th, the NBA Draft Combine commences. It is a camp where prospects can showcase their abilities to scouts. Players can participate in the combine until May 21st.

May 31st is perhaps the most important date for Kansas fans to know. That is the last day players can withdraw from the NBA Draft while retaining their college eligibility. Dick and Wilson are surely keeping their names in the draft pool, but there is less certainty regarding Kevin McCullar. Despite participating in KU’s Senior Night, no decision has been made for him yet. The consensus is that he will not return to the Jayhawks.
