6. Brannen Greene (2013-2016)

Number six on the list is Brannen Greene, who played in a reserve role for several years with Kansas. He was no stranger to controversy, having been suspended multiple times in his three seasons of college basketball. From missing practices to failing drug tests, nothing came easy with Greene.

In the closing seconds of a game versus K-State in 2016, Greene unnecessarily dunked the ball while the Jayhawks were up 16 points. It prompted Bill Self to condemn the play, calling what he did “classless.”

He even reprimanded Greene in a radio interview, saying it was one of the most unsportsmanlike things a player had ever done in a game. To get Self that angry means you did something significantly wrong. Later in the year, when the two teams played in Bramlage Coliseum, Greene was met with a showering of boos by K-State fans for his actions in the prior weeks. Considering he did not record a single point in the contest, some good came out of an otherwise painful loss for the Wildcats.

It stayed in the minds of the Wildcats for so long that three years later, Barry Brown returned the favor after they defeated KU. When he was asked about why he dunked the ball when they had already won, he responded: “Shoutout Brannen Greene.” It certainly gave K-State fans a sweet feeling of revenge, and they will never forget what Greene did.
