Four-star forward Marcus Adams Jr. has signed his Letter of Intent to play for Kansas basketball.

The 6’8″, 200-pound California native is ranked 36th nationally in his draft class and 9th in the California area. According to 247 Sports, Adams Jr. had 21 schools offer him, and Kansas stuck out to him more than any other university. UCLA, Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, and USC were the other suitors for the soon-to-be freshman.

He will arrive on campus a year earlier than expected, as he plans to graduate high school as a junior. His National Letter of Intent signing makes it official that his early graduation will be commencing.

Adams Jr. attends Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California, and his 2022-23 statistics are not to be taken lightly. In 17 games played, he averaged 28.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. The Jayhawks are getting an elite scorer that can create a high-tempo offense through his defensive rebounding. He was also awarded five Player of the Games in his final high school season, showing that he has a knack for performing under pressure.

The Jayhawks will need consistent scoring this upcoming season, and Adams Jr. can contribute towards that as he matures as a basketball player. There’s no way of knowing how KU’s roster will be structured at this very moment, but it’s safe to say Adams Jr. will have plenty of opportunities during the 2023-24 season to show the Kansas staff what he can bring to the table.

He says he cannot wait to get started and is excited to be coached by who he claims is the best coach in the game. Kansas has a top-notch recruit on their hands, and it will be interesting to witness how he develops throughout his collegiate career as a Jayhawk.

Jayhawk fans should expect Adams Jr. to be on campus as early as May or June and for him to be in the running for bench minutes as a freshman.
