Chase Jans lived up to his name after chasing a flyball that put him on SportsCenter’s Top Ten plays.

Kansas baseball lost the first game of the Sunflower Showdown vs. Kansas State by a score of 5-4 last night, but that did not keep the Jayhawks off the highlight reel. Chase Jans put KU on the map after making No. 2 on SportsCenter last night.

It was a spot well deserved for the sophomore from Overland Park. He made a diving catch in foul territory before doubling off K-State’s tagging runner. Although it was not the top spot on the list, it is a moment he will never forget. You can watch the spectacular play here:

The Kansas baseball Twitter team tagged SportsCenter in the post, and it must have caught ESPN’s eye. Although the catch and throw was an electric combination, we can not ignore the impressive tag that Michael Brooks put on.

Jans and the rest of the squad would have preferred to come out of the contest with a victory, but it is still impressive nonetheless. Kansas still has a chance to win the series if they can secure wins in the next two games. Before the loss, KU was undefeated in their home stadium Hoglund Ballpark.
