2016 – Frank Mason III

I want to preface this by saying that Josh Jackson would have been the best player on a good amount of these teams. He just so happened to be on the same team as the first Wooden Award winner since Danny Manning in 1988. Frank had an all-time great season in 2016 and was rewarded for his efforts. Like Graham, he was named Big 12 Player of the Year and a first-team All-American. However, unlike Graham, he went home with the Wooden Award, earning bragging rights over him that I’m sure he doesn’t let his buddy forget. Just shy of 21 points per game, along with four rebounds and five assists, is a crazy stat line. He also shot a ridiculous 47 percent from behind the arc on just shy of five attempts per game. There have been countless stars coming through the Jayhawk program, but Frank is one of the very best. He even had a song written about him, if that tells you anything.
