2003 – Wayne Simien

Joining Perry Ellis on the two-time winner list, Simien was also the best player on the team in his junior season. It wasn’t quite the statistical output that his senior season was, but it was a better season for the team. He earned the first of his two All-Big 12 team honors, putting up nearly 18 points and nine rebounds per game. He and Keith Langford formed a deadly duo, combining to score over 33 points per game. This season ended much better, with an Elite Eight appearance. However, this was the last team to not win the Big 12 before the streak started. Nevertheless, Simien had one of the best two-year stretches in KU history.
