2009 – Sherron Collins

Collins walked so guys like Frank Mason could run. It takes a lot of hard work and an immense amount of skill to be as good as those guys are at their height. Collins could have easily joined Perry Ellis on the two-year winner list, but we’ll get to that in a minute. He actually had a better season as a junior, as his senior year featured a much better supporting cast (specifically freshman Xavier Henry and the second year for the Morris twins and Tyshawn Taylor). Still, his 15.5 points and 4.5 assists per game were very respectable considering the increase in talent around him. His performance earned him his second consecutive All-American selection. While he is more known for his performance in the National Championship game as a freshman, Collins somewhat quietly had one of the best careers of any Jayhawk ever.
