Several members of the Kansas football program have entered the transfer portal before the April entry deadline to find a new school.

Ethan Vasko, D’Marion Alexander, and Kelan Robinson posted announcements on Twitter that they would be transferring from Kansas. The next period to enter the portal is April 15th, so they will effectively be transferred by Friday.

Vasko is perhaps the most surprising name in the group. He was expected to be in competition to be Jalon Daniels’ successor once he graduates. Instead, Vasko will look for a new home after just one year with the program.

The Virginia native was the nation’s 1,562nd-ranked prospect in the last high school class. He is a dual-threat QB with plenty of arm talent. Quarterback is a position that always needs to be recruited, so it is a significant loss for the Kansas football program. Jason Bean’s decision to return likely factored in Vasko’s transfer.

Meanwhile, Alexander has been with the program for more than two years. He recorded just one tackle in his two seasons at KU. Les Miles recruited him to be part of his 3-4 scheme, but with Lance Leipold taking over head coaching duties, Alexander has had trouble seeing the field. Scouts say he has an abundance of pass-rush moves, so he should have no problem transferring to another top-notch school.

Lastly, Kelan Robinson has not done much with Kansas since he committed in 2021. He redshirted after not playing any games as a freshman and sparingly played on the special team unit this year. The 6’2″, 205-pound receiver has three years of eligibility remaining for whoever he decides to transfer to.

It would not be surprising to see more Jayhawks enter the transfer portal before the 15th. They are above the 85 player scholarship limit, so Lance Leipold must cut ties with a few more players to even out the roster.
