A 15-point halftime deficit wasn’t enough to keep the Jayhawks from winning their conference opener. It took just over six minutes of second-half action before KU was back within one possession. From then on, neither team led by more than four points.
A Bryce Thompson three tied the score with just 16 seconds left, and KJ Adams responded by getting a layup to fall with three seconds left. Kevin McCullar blocked Thompson’s last-second shot, and KU moved to 1-0 in Big 12 play.
