SG. Memphis Grizzlies. Xavier Henry. 5. player. 211.

2010 NBA Draft, selected 12th overall

Memphis Grizzlies, 2010-2011
New Orleans Hornets, 2011-2013
Los Angeles Lakers, 2013-2015

Henry is the blueprint of a one-and-done that came into the NBA much too early. The southpaw was an inexperienced 19-year-old when he first took a step on an NBA court, and his career went exactly how many Kansas fans thought it would.

His lone season at Kansas was a successful one. Henry showed flashes of his jump shot and defensive capability. However, it was surprising to see him leave the program so early.

He is the first player on the list who was a true bust. It is one thing to be a serviceable role player in the NBA, but watching Henry play in the pros was painful. He was projected as a 3-and-D wing yet was timid offensively and overpowered by bigger, stronger NBA players. These are his stats:

  • 185 games played
  • 5.7 points
  • 1.9 rebounds
  • 40.6% FG
  • 32.5% 3PT

All Kansas fans can agree that his departure from the university was premature. He could have been a premier wing in the NBA today, but he was flustered by the superior competition. Constant injuries also did not benefit him. Henry didn’t play another NBA game after his age-23 season.
