A top-notch player from Georgetown University recently included Kansas in his final list of the four schools he will potentially attend next fall.

With Patrick Ewing on the way out and Ed Cooley coming in, Georgetown’s roster will look much different next season. One of its players in the transfer portal could play with the Kansas Jayhawks in 2023-24.

Primo Spears, an incoming junior from the Hoyas, took a humongous leap this past season. The 6-foot-3-inch combo guard averaged 16.0 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8% from the field.

After transferring from Duquesne a year prior, Spears is looking to find a new school again. He is down to four schools in his transfer process — Arkansas, TCU, Florida State, and Kansas.

Spears could benefit the Jayhawks in multiple aspects on the floor. He is an average shooter who can score in the iso game. When he drives to the rim, he can dish it to the big man or take it to the rack himself.

One might question where he would play with a point guard already on the team, but Bill Self loves to run dual point guard sets. Both players can handle the ball and play make at a high level, though Harris would retain most of those duties due to Spears’ careless 3.3 turnovers per game.

To assume that Kansas will acquire every transfer that includes them in their final list is wishful thinking. TCU has already had an in-home visit with Spears, and he would likely have a larger role with the Horned Frogs.

On3.com reported that he will schedule a visit with each of his final four schools. His decision should be made in the following weeks, and Primo Spears would be an exciting addition to next year’s roster.
