Saturday included some very successful outcomes for the Jayhawks. KU defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 78-55 on their home court, winning the fourth contest of their last five after a short slump.

There was never much of a chance for the Sooners to win this one, as Kansas held a comfortable lead the entire second half. Jalen Wilson, Dajuan Harris, Kevin McCullar Jr., and KJ Adams all posted double-digits in the scoring column during the outing.

This might have been one of the easier games for KU, but the Jayhawks will still have to play three more ranked teams during the regular season (Baylor, TCU, Texas).

Some other Big 12 foes helped out the Jayhawks in the Big 12 standings. Texas Tech had won just one conference game all season, yet defeated No. 12 Kansas State 71-63 in one of the biggest upsets of conference play this season.

It was not the first time that the Red Raiders assisted the Jayhawks in the standings by taking down a fellow top team. They defeated Iowa State two weeks ago. And with Iowa State’s disappointing loss at home to Oklahoma State on Tuesday, both of these contests could go a long way in determining who takes the Big 12 regular season title.

Seeing the Wildcats fail to win a game they should have assumedly put a grin on the faces of all Jayhawks fans. Still, not all games ended with the perfect outcome. TCU had been able to hold on to its lead versus Baylor, the Jayhawks would have had the outright No. 2 spot in the conference behind Texas.

With just six conference games remaining for each school, the Big 12 will have some interesting slates in its final few contests. Assuming that the Jayhawks can take down Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Tuesday night, KU could overtake Baylor in Allen Fieldhouse when they face off on next week’s College Gameday.

Every single game brings the Jayhawks closer to their final matchup, which comes against the Texas Longhorns. That is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest games, but Kansas will have to overcome multiple obstacles before that occurs.
