Kansas Football: Kenny Logan’s return will boost the defense
By Cade Stout
The 2022 Kansas football defense received a huge lift with junior safety Kenny Logan, Jr. announcing that he will return to Lawrence for his senior season.
Logan was recognized with Second Team All-Big 12 honors in 2021 after leading the conference in total and solo tackles in the regular season.
The St. Augustine, Florida, native took to Twitter to announce his plans to return to the program.

Logan once again showed himself as a leader on defense in 2021, providing a solid anchor for an inexperienced secondary.
Defensively in 2021, he recorded 110 total tackles, 78 solo tackles, five pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and an interception.
Serving as a primary kickoff returner, Logan will continue to add explosive potential on special teams. He returned a kick for a touchdown against Iowa State in 2020 and had big returns against South Dakota and West Virginia in 2021.
With Kansas retaining its best defensive playmaker and a key veteran on the back end, the Jayhawks’ defense is already in a much better position entering 2022.
Logan brings energy and leadership to the field, essential qualities for a defense who this past year was mainly comprised of freshmen and sophomores.
His loyalty to the Kansas football program is commendable. While many other players on defense left after the winless 2020 season and the coaching change, Logan chose to stick around.
With how easy it is to transfer in the modern era of college athletics, Kenny Logan’s decision to stay is a huge win for Lance Leipold as he looks to take the team to a new level in 2022.
Next season, Kenny Logan, Jr. has the potential to be one of the best safeties in the Big 12. The Kansas defense will need to rely on him if the Jayhawks want to compete for more wins.
