Kansas basketball has made the top six of Aidan Shaw, a four-star 2022 small forward prospect who’s been making sparks on the recruiting trail. Shaw has been one of Bill Self’s top targets from the start.

The Jayhawks currently have two commits in the 2022 class, four-star SF Gradey Dick out of Wichita, KS and four star PF Zuby Ejiofor out of Garland, TX.

He’s also considering Oklahoma State, Iowa, Missouri, Maryland and Arkansas at this time.

Shaw would be a great addition to the class and would add even more strength at the forward position.

Next year the Jayhawks will be losing forwards Cam Martin, David McCormack, and Mitch Lightfoot to graduation, and potentially Jalen Wilson to the NBA Draft. So, depth is needed at the forward position.

The Kansas native has expressed his fondness of Kansas head coach Bill Self, citing his recruitment and coaching experience.

"“I’m convinced he believes that I fit in his program,” Shaw said. “He really tries to push to me to go there. … I see him as a good coach. He has a lot of experience. He’s been through a lot of situations. I feel like he’s just somebody who is really experienced like that.”Shaw’s thoughts on Kansas HC Bill Self. (247Sports)"

As for how Shaw fits into the program, he said in an interview with Yahoo Sports reporter Krysten Peek that he’s known as a lock down defender, really athletic and will grab any board.

He hasn’t set an exact date on when he’s committing but has said he’s looking for sometime in August after his final visit to Arkansas. Although, Shaw did say he’s looking to make his final decision before the start of his senior season.
