The Houston Chronicle released a bombshell report that Oklahoma and Texas have reached out to the SEC about joining the league. Their potential departure threatens the Big 12 Conference’s future, affecting Kansas basketball and Jayhawk Athletics.

The Big 12 once again is the focus of conference realignment, similar to 10 years ago when Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and Texas A&M left.

The Big 12 and its members must get serious to protect the future of the league and its schools.

Of the remaining Big 12 schools, Kansas may be in the best position. Benefitted by its strong basketball brand, KU has some viable options going forward.
