Kansas basketball has extended an offer to 2022 point guard prospect Anthony Black, a young ballplayer starting to draw attention from top schools such as Duke and Baylor.

The Coppell rising senior has become a rising star this offseason, turning heads all over the country. Now, it seems head coach Bill Self is looking to feel out his interest in becoming a Jayhawk.

During the pandemic, basketball recruiting was practically in the dark and it was extremely difficult to gauge recruit’s interests. However, it may be a different story for Kansas now. With normalcy springing up all over the recruiting scene, many programs are starting to make much more personable connections with prospects.

While carrying offers from Big 12 neighbors Baylor and Iowa State, the offer that should be catching fans’ eyes is the one coming from the ACC’s Duke Blue Devils. After picking up steam on the recruiting trail, Black secured an offer from Durham, N.C.

This offer only makes his recruitment an even more interesting conversation, with competitive offers giving Black plenty to think about during his senior year.

A special from Inside High School Sports showcases Black’s athleticism, which has been developing at an impressive pace since his sophomore year.

Black is a confident ball-handler who can manage traffic extremely well. Letting this kid inside is a mistake, and it could be one of his strongest attributes. His three-point jumper isn’t bad either, but he shines more when finding the rim.

While Black is a promising basketball player, his talent stretches beyond the hardwood. He’s a three-star wide receiver prospect and a “very reliable decision-maker”, according to 247 Sports.

There could be a combo-athlete here, who knows? It seems Black is interested in playing either college football or basketball, or perhaps both if presented the opportunity. Regardless, he’ll be a fun recruit to watch throughout his senior year. Assuming he produces a solid senior season on the court, his recruitment will continue to stir up.
