Best Jayhawks of the 2010s

Joel Embiid, Center (2014)

It was a tough decision on who to put here. I chose Joel Embiid because of quickly he developed into a great post player during his lone season at KU. His excellent post scoring and blocking abilities elevated him to the national stage, drawing Hakeem Olajuwon comparisons from some.

Joel set the Kansas Basketball freshman records for blocks (72), field goal percentage (62.6%), and rebounding average (8.1). Embiid collected the awards for:

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year

Big 12 All-Defensive Team

2nd-Team All-Big 12

AP 2nd-Team All-American honors

USBWA All-America Freshman Team
