Soon-to-be junior Christian Braun will likely have a starting spot on Kansas basketball’s roster when the 2021 season tips off. However, a new and improved three-point bucket will be a must.
Braun finished this past season shooting 34% from behind the arc, which didn’t help the Jayhawks much in the postseason. We know how deadly he can be from the line, but we simply didn’t see his best work from the three last season.
Keep in mind though, Braun started in all 30 games and showed some flashes at times. He developed a stronger presence inside early in the season and having that aggressive attitude towards the basket is exactly what you want from your guards: Less fear, more go.
The good news is, Braun has been making significant offseason strides as both a shooter and a rounded team player, according to KUsports.com.
He collected some solid highlights throughout the season, even some eye-widening moves.
Assuming he’ll continue to make plays inside, he may become a real threat to opposing defenses this season, especially if he can find a consistent rhythm during the conference schedule.
Getting Braun hot early this season will be crucial, considering the changes to the roster. He’ll be receiving support from Arizona State transfer Remy Martin, as well as Drake transfer Joseph Yesufu. These two are fresh faces up top and may give Braun a new tempo to work with.
We’re getting some good signs this summer, and as fall rolls around there’s bound to be more word on his progress. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of an impact Braun will contribute in 2021, given the current offseason changes. It may be the right kind of change he’ll need for a successful junior season.
