Taking a dive into new OC Andy Kotelnicki’s offense

Confidence in the air

Joining Kotelnicki’s offense at Kansas will be former Leipold staffer Jim Zebrowski, who will be leading the quarterbacks in 2021.

Zebrowski would support junior quarterback Kyle Vantrease, a quick-armed thrower with a 62% completion rating this past season. The Bulls offense benefited from his ability to make concise decisions out of the pocket.

Along with production in the air, the Buffalo offense was able to alternate their rushing edge and passing options when needed. This aided the Bulls during tight spots and helped keep an offensive door open if needed.

If Kotelnicki’s can develop similar chemistry with Zebrowski at Kansas, fans could be in for something exciting.

For what seems like forever, Kansas has struggled to find/develop a reliable quarterback that could facilitate an offense week in and week out. Considering the number of quarterbacks available on this roster, there’s a chance one will emerge as a strong candidate for this staff.

This summer, the position group will add North Texas transfer Jason Bean to the mix. His presence at practices could introduce not only the Jayhawks to a veteran quarterback but allow for more flexibility with a seasoned staff like Coach Leipold’s.

This is a speculative guess, however, it should be something to keep an eye on. Coaching staffs appreciate working with experience and Bean will be bringing a decent amount to Lawrence.
