Freshman Latrell Jossell will be taking his efforts to Stephen F. Austin following his first season with Kansas basketball.

SFA’s program has seen growing success over the past few years and it could be the right environment for Jossell to find more minutes next season.

During this past season with the Jayhawks didn’t seem to find more than a couple of minutes per game, oftentimes during the closing act.

Earlier this month, Latrell decided to enter the transfer portal after conversations with Kansas head coach Bill Self.

Coming off a postseason ban, SFA finished their 2020-21 campaign 3rd in the Southland Conference with a 16-6 record.

The Lumberjacks have seen the NCAA Tournament often in the last decade, including appearances under former head coach Brad Underwood and current head coach Kyle Keller, who was hired in 2016.

Able to compete for postseason play this coming season, Latrell will be joining the Lumberjacks at the right time.

With the right direction, Jossell could make an impact during his time at SFA. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs on a different stage, which should allow him opportunities to shine.

His absence of minutes at Kansas was a tough pill to swallow, but that doesn’t mean the young guard doesn’t have potential.

Joining teammates Bryce Thompson, Tristan Enaruna, and Gethro Muscadin, Jossell has his sights on a new court for the 2021-22 season. A good portion of Kansas’ younger bench, their absence has opened scholarships and new avenues for the Jayhawks to chase.

Regardless, Kansas fans should wish Latrell the best down south. He appears excited to move on with his college career and contribute his talents to a new program.
