Kansas basketball transfer Tristan Enaruna has committed to Iowa State following his decision to leave Lawrence after just two seasons.

Enaruna found adequate minutes early into his second season with the Jayhawks, however, his floor time saw a significant decline in the bottom half of Kansas’ 2020-21 schedule.

Joining a rebuilding Cyclones’ program presents a change of pace for the sophomore guard.

Considering the amount of time seen by the Jayhawks’ younger talent, Tristan will have an opportunity to not only find more minutes with Iowa State but could also become a solid contributor.

Enaruna could’ve found more time with Kansas in the upcoming season, but whether or not he’d see an integral part of the roster is something else worth considering.

Tristan was averaging just a couple of points per game by the end of the 2020-21 campaign, and due to his positive Covid-19 test during the Big 12 conference tourney, he ended up not seeing any postseason minutes.

When Kansas’ offseason began, it was clear that roster changes were coming. If presented with an opportunity to introduce some new talent, Kansas was going to likely look past Enaruna.

However, a change of environment is something that could also go overlooked by fans. Tristan is a talented ballplayer, and a program such as Iowa State could benefit much more from his efforts than Kansas would in the long term.

It’s not to say that his enthusiasm wasn’t at Kansas, but his confidence could end up being much stronger in Des Moines.
