Kansas football spring rushing analysis and early impressions

Amauri Pesek-Hickson

Another young Jayhawk that fans should be excited for is Amauri Pesek-Hickson, who saw quite a few touches in the final weeks of Kansas’ 2020 campaign.

While his best yardage (100 yds) came during a 59-23 loss to TCU, it’s still some of the best rushing from any running back during the Jayhawks’ winless season.

Pesek-Hickson brings an interesting dynamic to Kansas’ backfield, as his combination of quick feet and creativity in open space allows him to make smart decisions inside.

The current freshman running back has been making noticeable strides during spring practices and will be someone to keep our eyes on.

Despite struggling to gain a consistent edge inside during the Jayhawks’ final couple of games, it seems that he is starting to make more confident choices when rushing into traffic, which should develop more over time.

As a versatile rusher, Amauri could become a regular part of Kansas’ rotation next season. He brings a refreshing change of pace to an offense that is in dire need of more energy.
