Kansas football’s 2022 recruiting class could see some help from Houston Thomas, a current high school junior from College Station, TX.

At 6′ 4”, Thomas’ height gives him a slight advantage when finding an open look, which is something that could work in Kansas’ favor on short yardage plays.

Combined with his ability to shrug off defenders on quick outside passes, it’s safe to believe he can become a talented receiver.

He shares similar receiving features to Kansas freshman WR

, who made some strong contributions during his first season.

However, without some improvement from the Jayhawks’ passing attack, it could be tough to seek out Houston’s full potential.

Kansas could use some strength in the air, especially someone who could consistently pull down passes for a few yards. However, this requires a decent quarterback.

In recent history, Kansas hasn’t had the best passing game. While former Jayhawk QB Carter Stanley’s senior season was a refreshing change of pace, KU still is struggling to find a reliable option at quarterback.

If Kansas can develop an adequate passing game by 2022, it should only make our chances for Thomas better.

The Jayhawks currently have a few options that the quarterback position and the battle for the starting job will be an interesting one to watch.

While Houston’s decision is far off, his campus visit isn’t. The prospect is set to visit Lawrence on June 4th. Hopefully, practices will continue to move in a more positive direction under interim head coach Emmett Jones at that point.

Kansas is still working to land on their feet following former head coach Les Miles’ departure from the program. If the Jayhawks can pick up a couple of wins in 2021, it might help their case with not only Thomas but other promising recruits as well.
