Extending an offer to 4-star prospect Bobby Pettiford Jr, Kansas basketball could be looking for a younger leader up top.

Continuing their recruiting efforts following March Madness, Kansas basketball has extended an offer to young point guard prospect Bobby Pettiford.

The move by Kansas shows that there is a particular interest in finding some new talent at the helm, considering that Marcus Garrett will most likely enter the NBA Draft.

Regardless, it looks like the program is interested in someone who, if not immediately, will share characteristics similar to former Jayhawk Devon Dotson.

Originally committed to Louisville, Pettiford re-entered his recruitment recently this month. However, it seems we’ll be waiting a while to see whether or not he accepts Kansas’ offer.

The young point guard stands at 6′ 1” and is versatile up top. He works his way inside by being creative, yet some of the directions he takes can be risky.

From a look at his highlights, Bobby can hit perimeter shots, but he appears much more confident with his inside attack.

His form factor gives him the ability to outwork a defender, which is a skill that only develops more with time. If Kansas could find consistent progress from his agility, I think he’d become comfortable with Big 12 defenses.

Kansas has a decent amount of young talent on this roster, and there should be some interest following Tyon Grant-Foster’s decision to enter the transfer portal.

It’s still early on this one, but he should remain on Kansas’ list of incoming prospects. In the meantime, we’ll have to watch what other offers come his way outside of Lawrence.
