Kansas football’s Spring Practices schedule should create opportunities for growth
Kansas football’s spring practices have been set for March 30th, and it’s the next step in the program’s current transition away from the Les Miles era.
This spring should open some opportunities for younger talent to show what they can bring to the table in 2021. Kansas’ announcement regarding spring practices can be found here.
Moving on from the Les Miles/Jeff Long mess, Kansas will look to land on its feet in 2021 after going winless in their previous season under Miles.
Kansas offense will need a lot of work, which isn’t going to be easy as Kansas has recently shifted its leadership over to interim head coach Emmett Jones.
Jones has some notches on his belt, which should relax fans a bit. He’s familiar with the roster and that will be crucial when bringing some of the younger guys up throughout spring play.
Names such as Jalon Daniels, Gavin Potter, and Karon Prunty should be apart of the conversation, as this young trio contributed well in the 2020 season.
Now that a date is set and we can look forward to the Jayhawks getting back to work, it’ll be interesting to see where debated topics such as the quarterback position, the new defensive strategy, and the rushing conversation land.
Following the recent pro day, Kansas football has been trying to steer motivations in the right direction, along with interim athletic advisor Kurt Watson’s message to Jayhawk fans following the recent departure of former AD Jeff Long.
While it’s going to be a tough fall to pick themselves up from, there’s at least a direction that the program is looking to move forward with. Only time will tell whether or not Kansas will be able to overcome the doubts held by the fanbase right now.
