Kansas basketball announced today that both David McCormack and Tristan Enaruna have entered Covid-19 protocol prior to the Big 12 Tournament.

It seems Kansas basketball is hitting some rough waters in early March, as head coach Bill Self announced that junior David McCormack and sophomore Tristan Enaruna will be unavailable for this week’s Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.

McCormack’s absence will be the most noticeable change, considering how much of an asset he is to Kansas’ offense.

We’ll likely see Mitch Lightfoot, or possibly freshman Gethro Muscadin, fill in for Dave inside.

Kansas will have to rely on playing small to channel an offensive edge, as their three-point presence isn’t nearly consistent enough to lean back on.

Coach Self has expressed his interest in creating “opportunities” for getting guys off the bench, but we’ll see how much of a difference this will make Thursday.

While both McCormack and Enaruna will likely be cleared to play in the NCAA Tournament, these are the first complications for Kansas’ season and arrived with poor timing.

Kansas is set for the Thursday, March 11th session which will have them playing either Oklahoma or Iowa State. While the tournament setting creates a different environment for every team, the Jayhawks will be in a very unfamiliar position without McCormack.
